The Disaster
CHERNOBYL
© henriklewander.comThe Graphite Fire
The graphite has caught fire in what remains of the reactor, spreading radioactive dust and smoke—what will eventually fall across Europe. Graphite has been ejected from the reactor and is now burning on the roof of reactor three. Top priority is to prevent the roof from catching fire so the cooling water pumps can continue running for reactor three. The fire brigade is dispatched. Those who arrive first believe it is an "ordinary" fire and act accordingly.
